Brief review of Kaka Udon Kitchen

This place is a gem and I’m so glad we found it. Kaka Udon had a Yelp coupon ($7 for $14) that we took advantage of and that was how we were introduced to the place.

Kaka Udon

Kaka Udon offers hand made udon. That’s the first thing you’d see upon walking in: the chefs making udon behind a glass window. They offer “make your own” udon system where you choose your broth (we’ve had the curry, miso and soy sauce – they’re all good), fixings (we’ve had shrimp tempura, veggie fritter, and fried tofu – again they’re all good), and size (small, medium, and large). They also offer a limited selection of sushi rolls and other typical Japanese food fare.

I thought the broth was excellent. I especially love, love the curry broth (warning: it’s spicy!) I believe they’re still working on improving the consistency between servings. The first time we went, the udon was ‘al dente’. The second time it was slightly softer. Either way, we enjoyed our meals both times.

The shrimp tempura was really, really good. Nice ration between batter and shrimp. It wasn’t oily at all. The fried tofu was also excellent! Soft on the inside and nicely crispy on the outside.

Kaka Udon Kitchen is no doubt a new neighborhood favorite.
