People have been saying that the Land’s End trail on the Coastal side of San Francisco is worth doing.
Last weekend we finally managed to get ourselves there to check it out. After a very long ride on Muni #38, we finally confirmed that yes, this part of San Francisco is beautiful and worth the trek.
At the beginning of the trail, we saw the remains of Sutro Baths. I’ve been curious about this place for awhile. I learned that in late 1800 Sutro Baths were opened to the public as the world’s largest indoor swimming pool establishment with 7 pools. A fire in 1966 burned part of it down. Now all you can see is the concrete dividers between the pools – no more swimming unfortunately.
Lands End Trail to China Beach
The trail itself was really popular among locals and tourists so you’ll never alone but the view was spectacular. We could see Golden Gate Bridge once you pass the actual Land’s End viewpoint. We could, if we’d wanted to, keep walking all the way to the bridge but it was still quite a hike away.
We ended up the hike on China Beach among million dollar houses.
All in all, a very worthy easy day hike and a must visit place to bring visitors over.
